The houses of Durenque generally follow the example of traditional building styles of “Rouergue”, but the style of ‘Causses’ also influences some constructions.
Walls are made of big schist or granite stones. Roofs slates often replace the traditional “lauzes” (also made of granite or schist). A cement coat, "crepi" often protects the houses against climatic conditions.
The living place is often on the first floor, with outside access via a staircase extended by a balcony. The cellar, the workshop or the garage are situated places on the ground floor.
New buildings in various styles blend in with the old village, and a new housing estate offers new style homes.
